Schroeder Family News

VOLUME 257 "All the news we can dredge up." FALL 1994
First, I must apologize for the lateness of this newsletter. My husband, Dan, sold the computer that I usually do the newsletter on and has not yet replaced it. He does intend to, so hopefully the next newsletter will be back in the old format. For now I am using a machine I am unfamiliar with so please bear with me.
Thanks!

THE 21ST ANNUAL SCHROEDER REUNION was a success again this year. Chris reported a count of about 77+ people. Since we all paid separately at the entrance the count is just an estimate.

Our Treasury currently has $37.00. Last years balance was $184.50 which was used for the Schreoder reunion hats which I hoped everyone received. We raised $23.00 from the 50/50 and $88.00 from the Bingo. From the $111.00, $65.00 was used to reimburse me for the newsletter and the reunion door prizes and another $9.00 went to Chris for the hats.

HELP WANTED!!!!!
No officers were elected at this years reunions, in fact, we lost an officer, Chris had to resign as Treasurer. So, we are in need of people who would like to be an officer, chairman, treasurer, boss, headguy, top banana, you name it, you got it.
I for some bizarre reason enjoy doing the newsletter and would like to keep my position as editor-in-chief unless there is objection or someone else would like to give it a try.

THE 22ND ANNUAL SCHROEDER REUNION HAS BEEN MOVED!
A motion was made by Joan Bamford and seconded by Mary Lou Unangst to change the reunion date to the first Saturday in August. The motion passed and now the 22ND ANNUAL SCHROEDER REUNION WILL BE HELD AUGUST 5, 1995. Please mark that date on your calendar.

THE LOCATION HAS ALSO CHANGED!!!!!!
Next years reunion will be held at Hile Park on Southside. More details to follow.

GOINGS ON
Karl Schroeder calls it quits. After 17 years with the U.S. Coast Guard, Karl retired this past October 1 st. After working for the past 44 ears with Sperry, Litton, ARINC and the USCG he says what he most enjoys about his retirement is getting to spend more time with Jean and sleeping late each morning (except of course during hunting season).

Surprise, Surprise Cathy Cohen has a baby girl! Allison Marie entered the world this past fall to join her older sister Kaitlyn, Cathy and Bruce to make their holiday season all that more special.

Jennifer Foss tied the knot with family and friends on Saturday, November 26, 1994. She is now Mrs. Scott Davis and she and her husband will be living in Arkansas for the coming year or so. Best Wishes for a happy, healthy, and loving marriage.

FOR ALL YOU STAR TREK FANS......

Are there any Star Trek fans in our family beside my brother Lloyd? We use to fight growing up about whether to watch Star Trek or my favorite - Kimba the White Lion. I could not understand what Lloyd saw in that show. Well, now 20+ years later, I now can even call myself a Trekkie - at least a Next Generation Trekkie - but I still can't see what he every saw in Captain Kirk especially when you have John Luc ready and waiting to take over. But this is for Lloyd and any other Trekkie out there.

100 REASONS KIRK IS BETTER THAN PICARD!

(I'll just list a few)

1.  One Word: Balls
2.  Kirk is a leader, not a follower.
3.  Kirk traveled through The Great Barrier, met God, and wasn't even impressed.
4.  Three Words: Flying Leg Kick
5.  When Kirk says "Boldly Go," he MEANS it.
6.  Kirk never once, ever, wore a wiener wrapping Speedo banana hammock on shore leave.
7.  Kirk specifically ordered a swivel LA-Z-BOY for the bridge.
8.  Kirk is a cultural icon -- Picard is just some guy who is really nice.
9.  Kirk's eulogies can actually make you cry.
10. Two Words: Line Delivery
11. Kirk, almost single-handedly, repopulated the earth's whale population
12. Kirk would personally throw Wesley off his bridge.
